Do I have to sign up to be a PTO member?
No! Every parent and teacher is a member of the PTO by default. Regardless of the hours you volunteer or the donations you make, you always have a voice in how the PTO supports Roy Cloud. We welcome your participation, your feedback, and your support. There is never a bad time, and it is never too late, to get involved with the PTO.
How much is each family asked to donate each year?
Did you know that many of Roy Cloud’s much-loved programs would not exist without parent donations? Our PTO funds so many essential experiences that the school district is unable to provide, including PE, art, music, garden, STEM instruction, counseling services, SEL initiatives, technology and classroom materials, theatre performing arts, teacher grants, teacher administrative support, scholarships, books, field trips, fun community events, and more!
We ask each family to contribute a specific $ amount per student via our PTO’s annual Direct Donations campaign to help us fund core programs. These donations are a large part of what allows our children to experience a variety of subjects beyond the core curriculum.
We understand financial circumstances are different for every family. If you can’t give the full amount, please consider donating any amount you can. Likewise, if your family is in the position to go above and beyond, we encourage you to symbolically sponsor another family in the full donation amount.
The Roy Cloud PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. Remember that many companies match charitable donations. The PTO receives a significant amount of funding each year from the company matching initiative tied to our DD campaign.
How do I volunteer?
Parent volunteers play a vital role in creating our thriving school community. There are endless ways — both big and small — for you to get involved with the PTO. Whether you help out in person or drop off much-needed supplies, your actions directly connect to the mission of the PTO.
If you have a particular interest or specialty, reach out to any member of our PTO leadership team and we can find the perfect volunteer opportunity for your skillset. To see open leadership positions within the PTO, you can view our vacant volunteer roles. If you’re not sure what’s a good fit, we highly encourage you to “dabble” in volunteerism and give an hour of your time here and there whenever volunteers are requested.
What if I don’t have time to volunteer?
There are endless ways — both big and small — for you to get involved with the PTO. If you are unable to volunteer in any capacity, then contributing to our Direct Donations campaign (the PTO’s largest annual fundraiser) is the single most impactful thing you can do to support students and teachers at Roy Cloud.
When does the PTO meet?
The PTO meets every other month during the school year to share, discuss, and vote on PTO business. Meetings are at 7 PM. Please check the calendar for upcoming meeting details.
Who runs the PTO?
The PTO board consists of volunteer officers. While officers lead broad functional areas of the PTO, many of our fundraisers, events, and programs are run by committees, chairs, and coordinators. Each year, we ask parents to volunteer for these roles.
How do I stay up to date on school news?
The single best way to stay abreast of everything going on at Roy Cloud is to subscribe to our weekly e-newsletter, the Thunderbolt. Other ways to stay informed include following us on Facebook, joining Facebook groups by grade, and paying attention to special notices from your teachers or room parents.
